My Choice - Lija: Two Socks & Con Te Partirò

We are taking a tour of the quaint village of Lija while enjoying two beautiful compositions: Two Socks from Dances with Wolves and Con Te Partirò. Photos shown have been taken by Choy Hong (Jasmine) Grech. 1. Two Socks was composed by John Barry for the movie Dances with the Wolves directed by Kevin Costner. One of the characters of the film, Dunbar, befriended an inquisitive wolf which he named "Two Socks" for its white forepaws. 2. "Con te partirò" (literally meaning "With you I will leave") is an Italian Classical Crossover song written by Francesco Sartori (music) and Lucio Quarantotto (lyrics). It was first sung by Andrea Bocelli at the 1995 San Remo Festival and recorded on his album of the same year, Bocelli. The single was first released as a A-side single with "Vivere" in 1995, topping the charts in both France and Belgium. The song achieved widespread success with a second version sung partly in English, pairing Bocelli with soprano Sarah Brightman, released as ! "Time to Say Goodbye". LIJA: Lija is a small village on the island of Malta. It forms part of the Three villages of Malta, along with Attard and Balzan. Lija has a baroque parish church and seven other small chapels. The parish church is dedicated to Our Saviour with priceless art work and Calì paintings that are found surrounding the church's ceilings. Lija became a parish in 1594, after the small community detached itself from the neighbouring town, Birkirkara. Lija has several old houses of character ...
